The couples, Mr. Patrick Hayt, aged 21 and Miss Mamie Walter, 18, were attended by Mr. and Mrs. James Mills, and Mr. Joe Hayt and Miss Julia Mills were the groomsman and bridesmaid to Mr. Charley Mayer, 24, and Miss Sadie Walter, 20. The beautiful ceremony was conducted by Rev. H. I. Bryant, of the Christian church. After hearty congratulations were extended and a few friends had taken their departure from the hall, the Grand March was played and the dance went merrily on until the 'we sma' hours put an end to the gaiety and the couples wended their several ways homeward. The woodmen netted about $40 from the evening's entertainment."14,15,16,17,18 Mary L. Patrick Hayt witnessed the marriage of Charles John Mayer Sr. and Sadie Lauer Walter on 26 October 1898 at Odd Fellows Hall, Iola, KS; "The double wedding and grand Ball advertised by the Woodmen to take place in Odd Fellows hall last night, came off according to the schedule. Promptly at eight o'clock the orchestra played a march and the two couple walked into the hall which was crowded with a host of friends. The couples, Mr. Patrick Hayt, aged 21 and Miss Mamie Walter, 18, were attended by Mr. and Mrs. James Mills, and Mr. Joe Hayt and Miss Julia Mills were the groomsman and bridesmaid to Mr. Charley Mayer, 24, and Miss Sadie Walter, 20. The beautiful ceremony was conducted by Rev. H. I. Bryant, of the Christian church. After hearty congratulations were extended and a few friends had taken their departure from the hall, the Grand March was played and the dance went merrily on until the 'we sma' hours put an end to the gaiety and the couples wended their several ways homeward. The woodmen netted about $40 from the evening's entertainment."8,9,10,11,12 Patrick Hayt married Mary L. Walter had four children.5 Patrick Hayt and Mary L. Walter appeared on the census of 19 April 1910 at 128 No. McGee St., Caney, KS, along with Patrick Hayt.5 He moved in 1911 to 516 E. 11th, Bartlesville, OK.15 He was a jailer for four years and a private night watchman for homes for nineteen years.15 He was a furnaceman at a zinc smelter in January 1920 at National Zinc, Bartlesville, OK.4,15 He and Mary L.
