     Merl Gottlieb Mayer was typist at an insurance company.1 Vital records include: obit. He was born on 20 July 1910 at Iola, Allen Co., KS.2,3,1 He was the son of Charles John Mayer Sr. and Sadie Lauer Walter. Merl Gottlieb Mayer appeared on the census of 5 January 1920 in the household of Charles John Mayer Sr. and Sadie Lauer Walter at 17 Helston Place, Hillsboro, IL.3 Merl Gottlieb Mayer was educated at University of Illinois. He could only afford to attend school one semester per year; working the rest of each year for the U.S. Geological Survey. It took him eight years to graduate with a degree in engineering.4 He appeared on the census of 11 April 1930 in the household of Sadie Lauer Walter at Hillsboro, Montgomery Co., IL.1 Merl Gottlieb Mayer was employed circa 1936 by the Firestone Rubber Co.. He had answered an ad in the Chicago Tribune and had an interview with Harvey Firestone Jr. He was put in charge of road building on the Firestone plantation in Monrovia, Liberia. During WWII, he had to leave Monrovia and come back to the U.S.4 The U.S. government sent Merl to Bolem, Brazil, near the Amazon River, to get out rubber for the war effort. He was given a medal by the governor of Brazil for his war efforts.4 He was employed by Kalman Flooring Co., Chicago, IL. They installed commercial flooring, such as poured concrete and terrazo, in places like the U.S. Mint in Denver and Washington D.C.4 He married Dr. Charlotte Young, daughter of Ralph M. Young and Beulah Lionberger, on 25 December 1961 at Charlotte, NC.5 Merl Gottlieb Mayer died on 21 January 1975 at his home, Des Plaines, IL, at age 64.6 A memorial service was held at First Congregational Church, Des Plaines, IL, on 15 February 1975.7

Mayer.10 He and Anna Ticie Burger were living in May 1910 at Caney, Montgomery Co., KS.15 On 27 May 1910 the Probate Court of Montgomery Co., KS, ordered that Ernest Mayer be committed to the State Hospital for treatment of the insane. He was diagnosed with melancholia and had been violent. He had been preiously treated at Dr. S___'s sanitarium for mental disease for 9 weeks. A lodge at Caney had defrayed most of his previous treatment expenses. He was found to be indigent and his brothers' and sisters' financial condition was considered poor; commitment papers filed.15 Ernst C. Mayer was admitted to the State Mental Hospital on 3 June 1910 at Osawatomie, KS.15 He died on 13 July 1916 at Osawatomie, KS, at age 38; He died of nephritis (kidney failure). His body was shipped to Iola for burial.18,19,20 He died after being in the State Mental Hospital in Osawatomie, KS for 6 years, 1 month, and 7 days. Ramsdell, between 1917 and 1919.4 Anna Ticie Burger moved circa 1918 to Borger, TX, an oil boom town about 40 miles from Amarillo, TX.1 She was moved Fern Mayer wrote, "Anna Mayer left Iola, Kansas and took her small children with her to Denver, Colo., and I have no way of knowing if they are still alive." circa 1920 at Denver, Denver Co., CO.13,1 She and Carl Morgan Ramsdell appeared on the census of January 1920 at Williams St., Denver, CO, along with Anna Ticie Burger.8 She married George Lautzenheiser in 1923.3,7 Anna Ticie Burger took in laundry for a living.1 She and George Lautzenheiser appeared on the census of 1930 at Denver, CO, along with Anna Ticie Burger.7 She was married three times, outliving all her husbands.14 She had only two children.14 She died on 3 September 1967 at age 78.6 She was buried at Denver, CO.6
